The Classification of Vitamins
There are two main categories for vitamins: Fat soluble vitamins and Water soluble vitamins. In the category of Fat soluble vitamins can be found vitamins such as A, D, E and K. A is a vitamin for skin care. Healthy teeth and bones are achieved with the consumption of vitamin D.
Vitamin E works as an antioxidant and vitamin K is the blood coagulationvitamin. A great source of all these vitamins is Liver. Vitamins C and D are water soluble, which means that on the process of cooking and processing, these vitamins are easily lost. Nevertheless, an overdose is not that dangerous as it happens with fat soluble vitamins.
The vitaminsrelated to the B group are adequate to keep healthy muscles, skin and blood. Vitamin C works as an antioxidant. Carnivores are able to produce their own vitamin C, but on stressful situations, individuals may not be able to produce enough.
How will you be able to detect right on time a vitamin deficiency in your pet? By paying attention to the signs and symptoms presented by your pet. For instance, a clear sign of vitamins A and / or B deficiency is the presence of poor skin and hair coat. If it is a lack of vitamin B specifically, your pet will be anemic and constantly tired. But the worst of all is the lack of vitamin D, since it can lead to cancer and heart problems.
Try to feed your pets always with natural food, food free from preservatives and artificial colours. Also try to share nutritious food with your pets such as carrots, broccoli, oatmeal, and yogurt.
